Dear Parish Family,
To quote the great Easter hymn, “Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! The strife is o’er, the battle is done…” On February 9, 2015, the third rector of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church will be the Rev. Scot McComas. Amen, Alleluia!
Father Scot comes to us after ten years of ordained ministry, with experience in parishes and schools from Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, and most recently, two parishes and the Parish Episcopal School in the Dallas diocese. Scot is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, Harvard Divinity School and General Theological Seminary, as well as the College of Preachers. He has a proven track record of preaching, teaching, fostering stewardship, community outreach, congregational growth, Episcopal schools and pastoral care.
We have agreed with Father Scot for him to complete his chaplaincy and teach his remaining semester at Parish Episcopal School, an affiliation with Church of the Transfiguration. He will then join us full time on June 1, 2015.
Please clear your calendar for Saturday, December 13 to attend the 5 pm service, as we have invited Father Scot to celebrate and preach that evening. This is your opportunity for a “sneak peek” and to meet Father Scot at a dinner to follow. Exciting times are ahead. Did I mention Alleluia?
In Christ,
Bob Bess
Senior Warden
