Vacation Bible School
An energetic, five-day Vacation Bible School (VBS) at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church is here, 9 am – 12 pm, June 12-16! Imagine a world where curious kids become hands-on inventors who discover they’re lovingly crafted by God.
At Maker Fun Factory, kids will discover not only that God made them the way they are, but for a purpose too. Maker Fun Factory will be filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences for kids to see, hear, touch, and taste. Sciency-fun gizmos, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and tasty treats are just a few of the standout activities that will help faith flow into real life. We will also help kids discover how to see evidence of God in everyday life, something we call God Sightings.
VBS outreach project
At VBS we teach children how much God loves them, and we also teach them how to share God’s love with others through an outreach project that has local impact. This year, our VBS outreach project will benefit Orange Out, a local nonprofit that provides snack bags to families with children battling cancer at Cook Children’s Hospital. They have a specific need for pre-packaged, nut-free snacks and small “treasure box” items.
Kids and families can certainly understand how snacks and small toys can brighten someone’s day! Founder of Orange Out and Justin, Texas mom Rhonda Brown recalled a time when her young daughter was a chemo patient and she didn’t have the resources to eat one day, and that experience stuck with her. “I know all too well that the snacks I bring could be some parent’s meal for the day.”
Nut-free, pre-packaged items you might bring include: crackers, breakfast bars, fruit snacks, cookies, granola bars, chips, small candies, fruit cups. “Treasure box” items are small and inexpensive trinkets that are easily found at a dollar store, but no stuffed toys.
Bring your purchased items to the Orange Out collection box in the school building during VBS. St. Martin’s will continue this collection in our church sanctuary from June 12-25.
