First Sundays at 4 pm
Evening Prayer is a worship service that marks the end of day and beginning of night. It is part of the Daily Office, the traditional rhythm of daily liturgy found in the Book of Common Prayer. At this service, we reflect upon our day and remember God’s presence in our lives. We read scripture, bring our prayer requests to God, and give thanks. This service does not include Holy Communion and typically lasts around 30 minutes. Wherever you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here. Come as you are.
Our tradition is blessed with a wide variety of practices for Evening Prayer. People gather at churches to pray it in different languages across the globe. Individuals and families pray it at home, and choirs often offer a sung version called Evensong. Here at St. Martin’s, we explore different versions of Evening Prayer each month, both to learn about our tradition and to experience new ways of bringing our hearts to God. We will provide everything you need to fully participate in the service, including words and instructions. All you need to bring is yourself.
