Are you looking for a way to make the holiday season bright and memorable? Do you want a way to give back and prepare your heart to celebrate Christmas?
Join us for Super Service Sunday on December 11. We’ll have Service Sunday at 12 pm, where we gather in our school building and make 200 sack lunches for Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County (UGM). After that, folks of all ages are invited to eat a quick Service Sunday sandwich lunch and head down to UGM for an afternoon of cookies and hot cocoa. We need to be at UGM from 1:30 – 3: 30 pm, where we will make gingerbread houses as a fun activity with the UGM families and children. We are partnering with Trinity Episcopal Church and their teens for an afternoon of joyful service and a way to build community between our two churches.

How you can help

Can you drive to UGM or donate your time or supplies to make this a cheerful afternoon for children and families who are getting a fresh start in the UGM program?

Carpool to UGM

Need a ride to UGM? Can you drive some people? We’ve had a carpool sign up board in the back of church for folks wanting to drive down to UGM together. But, now is the time to find rides and offer to carpool. Contact our youth minister by Thursday, December 8 for more information about carpooling.

Tips for this event

  • We’ll have a volunteer table for you to put together your own sack lunch to take down to UGM, but you might want to pack a lunch to make it quick and easy to head down to volunteer at Union Gospel Mission.
  • Printed maps will be available in the school building on Sunday, December 11.
  • It’s a great day to dress casual, or even wear holiday colors to spread cheer!

What to expect

As you pull into the circle drive at UGM, push the call button and tell the staff that you are a volunteer from St. Martin’s. The gate will open and you can drive in and park in the gated parking lot. Head up a few steps and inside the main entrance. Greet the staff at the front desk and then turn left toward the program room. We will quickly gather in that room and set up areas for refreshments and an area for families to gather and put together the gingerbread houses. The event will be “come and go” for UGM families. We will be joined by teens and volunteers from Trinity Episcopal Church to help out too! We’ll welcome everyone and help folks with decorating gingerbread houses and offering snacks. Towards the end, we’ll clean up and give thanks for a great day!
