St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church passionately serves the homeless in Tarrant County, and a $2125 grant from the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth helped St. Martin’s buy 125 pair of shoes for the people served by Union Gospel Mission. Whether it’s dress shoes for a job interview, work boots for outdoor labor, or sneakers for comfort, St. Martin’s believes in serving the basic needs of others so that others can focus on even more important issues.

St. Martin’s asked UGM’s coordinator for shoe needs and shoe sizes, then took advantage of online shopping and shipment to stretch every penny. Shoes were shipped to our campus and placed before our altar as an offering to God. They were blessed during our 10:30 worship on November 13, St. Martin’s Day; all in church prayed for the people who will wear them. The shoes reached UGM the next day!

Grants from our diocese enabled much outreach by churches including St. Martin’s; please understand the impact of these grants by watching the video The Spirit in the World, Here and Now. The work enabled at our church by two grants is shown.
