He draws parallels between our current day veterans, St. Martin (who was once a soldier) and the gospel reading of “the widow’s mite.” In all instances, sacrifice is involved. Sacrifice to country, to others, and to God. Deacon Ayo asks us to consider what each of us can commit to St. Martin’s church and to the service of others in the name of God.
