In his sermon this week, the Rev. Scot McComas talks about the Old Testament reading, which pertains to King Solomon. Solomon was known for his wisdom. He built a great temple to the glory of God where he placed the Ark of the Covenant and said, ‘There shall never fail you a successor before me to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children look to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.” Father Scot tells us that while Solomon certainly meant to always dwell in the Lord, he was also human. And so Solomon built a great palace, and had many concubines. The house of Israel was weakened and separated. However, Father Scot tells us, though Solomon strayed, and though we may stray ourselves in our daily lives, the Temple is always open. All we need do is open our hearts in prayer & we shall be with God.
