Fr. Scot then discussed the pillars of joy, described in The Book of Joy, written by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He explains to the kids, and to all of us, what it means to have perspective, humility, humor, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, compassion and generosity in our hearts, and how each of these relates to our love for God, and God’s love for us. He tells us that if we have an attitude of gratitude (as his father told a young Scot), we can live a longer, happier, healthier life, and that attitude will rub off onto others, spreading the joy.
In his children’s sermon this week, the Rev. Scot McComas talks to us about the faces of Moses and Jesus shining after their encounter with God. He asked if our faith shines through us, and if so, does it shine with joy?
