In his sermon for Family Worship this week, the Rev. Scot McComas begins by talking about the gospel reading. In it, Jesus healed a sick child, but also a woman, who had come in the hopes of being healed, simply by touching Jesus’ robes. Father Scot brings this into the news of the day: that people fleeing poverty and violence in their countries are coming to this country to be healed. And even though some recent policies of our government have seen these people separated from their families, or just turned away, there is hope that these policies will shift. The people of this nation are coming together to stand up for what is good and right. There is hope that God’s love will be shared by all people everywhere.
