Seminarian, and long-time member of St. Martin’s, Phyllis Bess, delivers the homily this week. She talks about the gospel reading, in which the disciples are caught in a rough sea on a boat with a sleeping Jesus. When he is awaken, he calms the seas and asks them, “Have you no faith?” Phyllis asks us the same…though our lives may be troubled, whether with relationships, sickness, financial hardness, or much worse…do we have faith in Jesus? Do we ask, “where is God in all of this hardship?” Phyllis tells us to have faith, Jesus is in the boat with us and will see us through the storms.
