This week, we were blessed by the presence of the Rev. Canon Janet Waggoner, who came to visit us from the Diocese of Fort Worth. She spoke about being the harbinger of change: quite often she is called to speak to a congregation when they are in a transition from one rector to the next, as St. Martin’s is now. With the words “change happens,” Canon Waggoner hopes to alleviate some fear and anxiety about being without a rector at present. Change happens in all our lives, in big and small ways. It is important to remember at these times, that God is in charge. As Jesus tells Martha in our Gospel reading: “Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing.” Canon Waggoner urges each of us to look inside ourselves, let go of our fears, and listen to God.
After the service, Canon Waggoner held a Q&A session for the congregation. You can listen to that here.
