In his sermon this week, the Rev. Ayo Omoniyi discusses the gospel reading, in which Simon Peter is frustrated by Jesus telling the disciples of his impending death. Jesus goes on to tell his disciples that if they want to follow him, they must deny themselves & carry their cross. Deacon Ayo tells us that being a Christian is not an easy thing to be. Following the teachings of Jesus is not easy, and can cost us in life: friendships, reputations, even jobs. But if you stay strong, if you carry your cross, Jesus will always be with you. Deacon Ayo tells us to focus on Christ and we will not be alone.
