Scout Sunday 2020 was a tremendous success! On hand were Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Troop 937, as well as neighboring Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Sunday school families. Troop 937 kicked off the weekend Saturday with their Pinewood Derby followed by a camp out at St. Martin’s. They were here Sunday morning to help set up chairs and tents for festivities after the service.
The Cub scouts helped set up the Pinewood Derby track to have on display in the small parish hall. Scouts processed into the church with flags, and led scripture readings for the Family Worship Service. Scoutmaster Lynn Arn delivered the “scoutmaster minute,” explaining that a Scout is reverent and his or her commitment to instilling the values of honor and respect will carry with them into their adult lives.
Chartered Organization Representative Dr. Christopher DeClerk, Scoutmaster Lyn Arnn, and Cubmaster Liza Goodner awarded 48 patches to Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Scout Leaders, and former Scouts, including Fr. Ron Pogue, who is an Eagle Scout!
After worship, Cub Scouts sold Camp Cards, and Scouts helped youth roast marshmallows (over a closely monitored campfire) and assemble their s’mores, and served hot chocolate and hot dogs on the front lawn. Thank you to all who came out to support the Scouts on Sunday! Special thanks to Brooke Casey, Aaron and Christopher DeClerk, and all our families that brought supplies and helped make this a “very cool” day!
