Christmas letter from the rector

St. Nicholas Day
December 6, 2016
Dear Friends in Christ,
As I sit down to write this Christmas letter I realize it is the week before Thanksgiving. It seems odd to write a Christmas letter when it is 80 degrees outside. Oh well, it is Texas!
I wish each of you a peaceful Advent as you enjoy some silence, prayer and reflection as we near the end of the year. As we prepare for Christmastide, I invite you to attend any of our services celebrating the birth of our Lord. All of our Christmas services will offer Holy Communion and our Christmas Eve services will have carols and hymns. Nursery care is available at our 5:00 pm Christmas Eve service.
Christmas Eve Services

  • 3:00 pm – a focus on the youngest of children
  • 5:00 pm – a family service; nursery care available
  • 6:15 pm – an Elves Feast and a visit from Santa in the parish hall
  • 8:30 pm – Rite II worship
  • 10:30 pm – Rite II worship with incense

Christmas Day Service

  • 11:00 am a quiet, reflective service with no music

I also would like to invite you to make your Christmas offering online with the button at the end of my letter. I ask you to pray and think of the many blessings you have encountered this year and offer some back to God. St. Martin-in-the-Fields is an extremely generous and loving parish, and I feel blessed each day to serve as your rector.
May God richly bless you and your loved ones in Advent and Christmastide.
Faithfully in Christ,
The Rev. Scot McComas
Rector
