Nominations for Vestry, Convention delegates sought – are you called to serve?
Nominations are open for membership on the 2019 Vestry and for representatives to the 2019 diocesan Convention. Nominees are committing to serve our congregation in a leadership capacity. The Vestry works to ensure our parish ministry is carried out in accordance with our parish values, mission, goals, and priorities, and according to the constitution and canons of our diocese. A delegate to Convention has a seat, voice, and vote for nominations, resolutions, proposal, budget, and other pertinent material at Convention.
According to diocesan canon title IV.7, Vestry nominees must be confirmed communicants in good standing of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, at least 18 years old by the date of the annual parish meeting on January 27, 2019, and have made financial contributions in 2018 that are shown on the records of our parish. If a Vestry nominee has served two consecutive terms, he or she may not be eligible for election to the Vestry until a full year has elapsed, unless filling a Vestry vacancy of fewer than two years. A Vestry member is elected to serve a three-year term.
According to diocesan canon title I.1, diocesan Convention lay delegates and alternates must be confirmed communicants in good standing of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, at least 18 years old by the date of the first day of any meeting of the Convention. The 2019 Convention of our diocese will be in November 2019, usually the second Friday and Saturday of the month, at a location to be announced. Delegates are elected each year at the annual parish meeting and serve until their successors are elected.
