Labyrinth construction (updated)

The construction of a labyrinth at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church began in late June, 2017, with excavation and form setup! You can safely view progress from the walkway by the playground. From start to finish, construction should be completed in 30 to 45 days. We will periodically post photos on our our church Facebook page and in this labyrinth Flickr album.

Pouring the concrete was complete on July 2, and Ron Hitchcock gave this update: “We’re ordering the stencil to mark design on the concrete; it will take about three weeks to get here. Then the contractor will trace the design, score the design, and acid stain the design around the first of August.”

Update on August 1: The stencil for the design will not be completed and shipped from the manufacturer until after mid-August, which delays the scoring and staining of the pattern.

The design will be the Chelsea a la Chartres labyrinth design.
