The third annual Festival in the Fields was a huge success, with over $2,900 raised to support the purchase and installation of a new playground structure. We are delighted to announce that with the addition of the festival proceeds to the existing playground funds and diocesan grant, we have ordered the new playground structure. Many thanks to Fever United Soccer Club, to the vendors who exhibited with us, to the staff and families of St. Martin’s Episcopal School, to Keller High School cheerleaders, and all in our community and our congregation who made this festival a huge success. Special thanks goes to festival coordinator Richard Seeber and to the team of committed volunteers who worked throughout the year on this event.
Kids activities
With a lot of help from the Keller High School cheerleaders and our school staff, the kids’ activities were the most popular in the whole festival. Pumpkin painting, face painting, tattoos, a bounce house, an obstacle course, and the large inflatable slide provided hours of fun for our youngest guests.
Chili cookoff
An all-time church favorite activity, the chili cookoff, returned from years past with at least nine entries judged by a venturesome panel of Fever and St. Martin’s judges. Thanks to the organizers, judges, and participants for this spicy goodness!
So much activity, so many to thank
Our heroes at the food tent and beverage table kept over 300 bellies full and bodies hydrated and satisfied. The silent auction was a great fundraiser with many items contributed from the congregation. The book sale was amazing, with children’s books, adult books, CDs and DVDs finding new homes to the benefit of our playground fund; thanks to our donors and shoppers!
Our vendors and exhibitors added so much to the festival, and we thank them all! Jan Crider sold Pampered Chef items and gave proceeds to the festival cause! Another big thanks goes to the Stitching Bees – their sewing team sold handmade items at the festival and afterwards, with a big payoff toward playground equipment. Our community partners Boy Scout Troop 937 and Cowtown Loves Animal Shelter Pets were with us all day, offering ways to serve our community and transform lives.
The playground fund benefitted greatly from a two day sidewalk sale at our school, organized by the Marling family, offering handmade items and books not sold at the festival. The book sale finished up with a trip to Half Price Books to maximize the impact of everyone’s book donations.
The festival wouldn’t have been possible without the host of other volunteers and participants who greeted, sold tickets, prepared and sold baked goods, promoted our school, prepared, helped, and cleaned up. We could not have had a successful and memorable festival without you. Thank you!
