Consecration Sunday, October 4, 2020
Earlier this year when we began planning our Consecration Sunday Stewardship Campaign, we did not anticipate the inability to gather in person for worship and a meal. We now see that our precautions will still be in effect on the date for our observance. But St. Martin’s people are resilient and creative, so we have a plan!
On that Sunday, October 4, we will gather in our vehicles in the parking lot and online to express our intention to continue our faithful stewardship into 2021 and that time when we are once again able to gather inside. Our Curate, The Rev. Paula Jefferson, will bring us an encouraging and inspiring biblically based stewardship sermon in the 10:30 live streamed morning service. Estimate of Giving cards will be distributed in the parking lot and there will also be a link provided for an online version so everybody can participate. We’ll fill in our estimates of giving together as an act of worship and offer a prayer of consecration at the Altar. In addition, we are offering box lunches from Jason’s Deli for everyone who wishes to have them in the parking lot where we can see each other.
As this pandemic continues, we need hope, gratitude, and generosity in abundance. So we’ve chosen Jeremiah 29:11as this year’s theme:
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord,
plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
We are people who believe God will see us through this crisis and we know we need each other’s care and encouragement to be steadfast.
On Consecration Sunday, October 4, we will have an opportunity to make a new commitment to be faithful stewards of the financial resources God has given us. We are asking every member of St. Martin’s to give to God in proportion to what God has given to us. We are being challenged to take the next step in our giving, with the tithe – 10% of our household income – as our ultimate goal.
Since the box lunches will be catered, it is important for us to know your attendance plans. Please use the enclosed card to let us know how many box lunches we need to provide for your household. You may also respond by telephone at 817-431-2396, online here or use the form below, or email the parish office at email@example.com. Please respond even if you cannot attend!
It is going to be a very important and wonderful day for all who love God and St. Martin’s Church to join together in gladness and oneness of heart. Please make whatever changes are necessary in your schedule so you can be with us for Consecration Sunday, whether in your vehicle or online.
