Being Christian – Confirmation Class on Sundays November 28 – December 19
On Sunday, November 28, Father Alan will offer a new class, Being Christian, designed for teens and adults who wish to make a public affirmation of their faith through the sacrament of confirmation, or those who wish to reaffirm their faith or be received into the Episcopal Church.
The class will meet from 12:15 – 1:30 pm (lunch provided), and the November 28 session will be an overview of confirmation, as well as an opportunity for those in the class to get to know each other. The class will meet weekly through December 19 (class that day begins at 9:15 am).
Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation: Which is right for you?
Confirmation is a mature, public affirmation of your faith, celebrated by the prayers and laying on of hands by our bishop. It is a celebration of your baptism and your desire to live out your faith. If you were baptized as a child (in any denomination) but were never confirmed, this rite is for you.
Reception is for those who have been baptized and confirmed in a Christian denomination that has a ritual of confirmation (such as Methodists, Catholics or Lutherans) who wish to join the Episcopal Church.
Reaffirmation of faith is for those who have been baptized and confirmed, but seek to publicly renew and reaffirm their faith in the community at St. Martin’s.
Registration
All are welcome to attend any of the classes, whether or not you wish to be confirmed. However, you must register for the class on or before Sunday, November 28.
If you have any questions about the class or any aspect of your decision to join the Episcopal Church, contact the Rev. Alan Bentrup at 713-553-3358 or alanbentrup@gmail.com.
