The Rev. Megan Grant, our part-time youth minister, has accepted a full-time position as Minister to Children, Youth, and Families at Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. Megan’s last day with us in this position will be Sunday, July 14. On that day, we will say a final goodbye to both Father Scot McComas & Rev. Megan Grant during our potluck luncheon.
We have been blessed to have Megan serve as our youth minister, and we’re grateful that she will continue to worship with us. She wanted to share this with you:
“It is with both joy and sadness that I announce my resignation as Youth Minister at St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Lake Shore recently reached out to me and the decision to leave St. Martin’s has been a process of prayer and discernment. I feel honored to have been called to this new position and to seeing where the Spirit is moving. Lake Shore has asked me to begin soon because they are gearing up for a children’s camp that begins July 31. My last Sunday with St. Martin’s will be on July 14 which will give me almost two weeks to say goodbye to the youth and families and the church and staff here. Though this departure is sudden, and aligns with Father Scot’s departure, as it is still mid-summer it should allow time for St. Martin’s to find a new youth minister who can provide an energetic, planned back-to-school program.
St. Martin’s took a chance on this Episco-Baptist and for that I am forever grateful. I cannot say enough how happy and blessed my ministry with St. Martin’s has been for me. My time with you has been a gift that has challenged, sharpened, and shaped me as the minister I am today. I can never thank you enough for this time. My prayers will always be with you as you continue to exemplify justice, mercy, and curiosity to the Keller, North Richland Hills, and Southlake communities. I am deeply grateful for my time with you and wish you all the best in the future.”
We are deeply grateful for the ministry of the Reverend Megan Grant. Please thank Megan for serving among us, and please also continue to pray for her as she answers God’s call to serve children, teens and families in a broader ministry in a another part of God’s church.
Father Scot is in the process of appointing a search committee for the next youth minister of St. Martin’s. We expect applications to come in later in July and August. Until an Interim Rector is in place (probably sometime in September), the canons of the church say that the Senior Warden is in charge of all staff. Senior Warden Keen Haynes and Father Scot will work closely together during his remaining time as rector to ensure that St. Martin’s youth ministry continues seamlessly for the duration of the summer and into early Fall.
