Outreach Project

Backpacks for Foster Children

The St. Martin’s Deborah Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King (DOK) is participating with the Diocese of Texas DOK to provide complete backpacks for children entering the foster care system.

Children entering the foster system are often taken out of bad living situations at a moment’s notice, and have no personal belongings or anything to put them in. We will be helping to stock the local Tarrant County “Rainbow Room” where Child Protective Services access items for these children in transition.

We are asking for help in supplying everything from backpacks to toiletries for teenagers, both male and female, 11-18 years old. You can buy items from the list below and drop them off whenever you are at church. We’ll have marked bins at the back of the church. You can also order from our Amazon Wish List, and items can be shipped directly to St. Martin’s. Or you can make a monetary donation. Just choose “Backpakcs” from the drop down menu. If you write a check, please make it out to St. Martin-in-the-Fields and put “Backpacks” in the memo.

This outreach project will run from now, through the end of June, and will also be part of our Summer VBS Outreach!
