Our teen Sunday School at 10:30 am has been so much fun! The students are asking amazing questions in regards to their understanding of what scripture is saying to us and how it is applicable to our world today. Our last lesson over the vineyard owner’s treatment of all people was particularly fantastic!
Our teens are continuing in our Wednesday night discussions on difficult questions, and it is beginning to cultivate better conversations as everyone gains more confidence to voice their concerns. Teens, come and join our Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) Wednesday night meetings from 6:30 to 8 pm.
We are kicking off EYC Sunday Funday on October 22. We will be going on a corn maze pumpkin patch day trip and get fall drinks afterwards.
The Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, October 7 at 5 pm has been on our countdown! I am bringing my pupper and the students are really looking forward to being a part of the event as well as getting a chance to learn how to bless and share prayers with others. We’ll host drive-thru pet blessings from 5:45 – 6:15.

I will begin conversations about this year’s summer mission trip! I would like to be in dialogue with teens and families on taking our students to a monastery to conclude our year in the life of spiritual practices. I have been slowly and subtly been introducing the students to silent prayer as well as praying our experiences. These are just the beginning of our practices. I am excited to continue to stretch the students to see beyond the acts of service and see the spiritual implications of our “doing” for Jesus. I see the trip to the monastery as an ultimate goal to combine “being” and “doing.” The students will be engaging doing things for the monks, such as: gardening, support letter stuffing, office work, and kitchen duty.
I am so excited about our church’s activities on October 29, with the Trunk or Treat + Chili Cookoff + 5th Sunday Potluck! We’re offering parking lot spots for trunk or treat to benefit our mission trips, and you can reserve one for $20 and support our mission trip. This day will have something for everyone, and I hope you’ll join in the fun!
