How is it already May?!?! Here’s what’s happening this month:
Service Sunday on May 13
Service Sunday is coming up on May 13 after the 10:30 am service. Please join us as we assemble sandwiches and bags of food for the homeless served by Union Gospel Mission! If you are able, please donate Sunbutter, cookies or granola bars (either store bought or homemade!) We greatly appreciate your donations! Want to help in another way? Be an Early Bird and help us set up before church at 9:30. We need help every second Sunday. On May 13, Service Sunday will be in the small parish hall because of the reception for Jean & Father Jesse Smith, who’ve been with St. Martin’s for well over 20 years.
Two exciting ways to celebrate on May 20
Italian Lunch – support our mission trip
Support us in the final fundraiser for our Pecos Mission trip! On May 20 after we celebrate our graduates during the worship service, and as we celebrate their accomplishments in our parish hall, we’re preparing a delicious lunch! We are inviting everyone to join us in the large, east parish hall in the education building for an Italian themed lunch. The youth will be serving as well as planning music for the true Italian vibe. This is donation based so tell everyone about the great opportunity to have a special church staycation lunch!
Graduation Celebration
We are so close to the end of school, which means graduation season is upon us! If you are a graduating senior (high school or college), please contact me at megan.grant@stmartininthefields.org. If you know of a graduating senior that has been a part of our church, please let me know so I can contact them and ask if they want to join us in celebrating their accomplishments. Graduates can have a table and display anything that captures their interests and successes throughout their studies (e.g. sports medals, academic certificates/plaques, photos, etc. ) This is a time for us to wrap our students in our arms and say, “Look at what you have done! We are so proud of you!”
Sunday Funday on May 27
On May 27 we will be going to Altitude Trampoline Park! They have a special that costs $17.95 for 3 hours of hop-tastic fun. (You know that pun was great.) We will leave the church directly after the service, have lunch at Mooyah, and then drive to Altitude. As always, I need one volunteer driver and adult to be with us as we jump our hearts out. Also as always, scholarships are available!
Mission Trip June 17-22
We are a month away from our summer mission trip to Our Lady of Guadalupe Abbey in Pecos, New Mexico! June 17-22 we’ll be heading out for a week of intentional spiritual practices and service to the community. Our mission trip team will be lead by Carla Pulliam and Rhonda & Tony Ackley. Our youth members are Ainsley W., Kyra W., Max T., Elena P., Bates P., Rose A., Nick A., Luca B., Leena R., John D., and Gabby J. We’ll stay at the abbey on the nights of June 18-21. We are finalizing details with a church in Amarillo, TX to stay for the first and last nights of the trip in order to split up the 9 hour drive. Please join us in prayer as we prepare for this trip. Donations are always welcomed: you can do that and get more info here!
Extracurricular activities
Parents, please provide me a list of any and all extracurricular events that your students are involved in for school. I am a firm believer in being an encourager not only at church, but also in the holistic ways your kids participate in the world. I had the privilege of attending one of the Keller high school theater productions last fall and I would really enjoy seeing more of our students at work.
Volunteer!
Thank you to all the volunteers who have showed up for Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings! We really need more volunteers. If you have yet to experience our special chaos, please sign up for a time:
