The Rt. Rev Rayford B. High, Jr., bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, has appointed the Rev. Scot McComas, rector of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, as chair of the Diocesan School Commission. Scot joins St. Martin’s Children and Youth Minister, Corrie Cabes, on the commission.
As Father Scot dives in to the life or our church and this new appointment in the diocese, he reflects:
I was a teacher before I became a priest, and I value education and the importance of the formation of young people, who are the future of our church. This is done in churches and in Episcopal schools.I also love how Episcopal schools accentuate a servant leadership model – the same model we find in Jesus.
An Episcopal church that has a school affiliated with it also has a target audience for evangelism. Any church that does not welcome children and young people is a dying church. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.”
