Nathan Le from St. Martin’s Troop 937 will be working on restoring our outdoor benches for his Eagle Project.

From Nathan:

The project will consist of completely disassembling, repairing, and reassembling all of the benches located around the church. These benches, although many are still usable in their current state, are considerably weathered, have scratched paint, and are missing important hardware. We will need to gather the benches to a single area, take them apart, and deal with the components of the benches individually. The metal frames will need to have their rust removed with either sandpaper or wire brushes and the old wooden boards will need to be disposed of. We will be purchasing entirely new boards which, after being brought on-site to be worked on, must be measured, cut, drilled, sanded, and stained before reassembly. The benches will be reassembled on the final day of the project with new hardware, including the nuts and bolts which attach the benches to their frames.

The project’s projected work date is the weekend of November 13, but may take the next weekend as well to complete considering the number of people who show up and how much work we are actually able to complete on each day. I’ve estimated the cost of the project to roughly be around $500 so every donation helps.

Thank you all so much for helping me with the project!
