Our Sunday School continues its summer format (read about it here) through August 19.
Big things happen on August 26!
Sunday School program shifts – locations, ages
On August 26, we will shift our Sunday School program starting location and age-based breakout, and we’ll start in the school building’s large east parish hall! Parents, you’ll sign your kids in to our programs there, we’ll get them to their designated classroom and return them to you in church in time for Holy Communion with you. We’ll have a registration form for you on that first day of Sunday School!
- Ages 3-4: Preschool: Our sweet and nurturing preschool class will feature hands-on activities while getting to know Jesus. Godly Play will be offered once a month.
- Grades K-3: P.R.A.Y. & Godly Play: In addition to Godly Play once a month, we are introducing the P.R.A.Y. “God and Me” curriculum. Our wonderful teachers guide students through the steps of “Becoming Best Friends with Jesus” through activities like reading Bible stories, playing fun games, and memorizing the Lord’s Prayer. Children will learn to grow stronger in faith and serve God.
- Grades 4-6: P.R.A.Y.: Tweens will dive into the P.R.A.Y “God and Family” journey, guided by the teacher/counselor while “Growing in God’s Love” through interactive Bible-based introductions, hands-on crafts, and fun family projects. To learn more about the P.R.A.Y. program, please visit praypub.org.
Sunday School Volunteer Opportunities
We have opportunities for you to serve God many ways that support our children. Interested in being a Sunday School teacher, part of our welcome and checkin team or Sunday School connections team, substitute, or classroom doorkeeper?
To volunteer, or ask any questions about our curricula, or to get more information about children’s Sunday School, please contact Children’s Minister Liza Goodner at liza.goodner@stmartininthefields.org.
Backpack Blessings on August 26
Please remember to bring your backpack, because right after Sunday School on August 26, we will have backpack blessings in the sanctuary. If you don’t bring a backpack, that’s okay too. You’re invited to receive a special blessing! All students, teachers and school volunteers, whether you’re in daycare, preschool, public school, private school, home school, Sunday School, college, or graduate school: you’re invited to receive a special blessing! Our congregation will pray for the excitement of learning, scholastic achievement and personal growth as we begin a new school year.

First Sundays are Family Worship Sundays
In our church’s Sunday schedule, the first Sunday of each month offers a family worship service at 10:30 am, giving families an opportunity to worship together in a kid-friendly way. Young people of all ages will be involved in our worship with readings, a children’s sermon and activities during worship. There’s no Sunday School on first Sundays, so come straight to church.
