Hi Everyone!
I wanted to wish you a wonderful week of VBS! You all have done so much to prepare a place for children to come and learn about the love that Jesus has for each of us. So, I thank you very much for your ministry. I want to also thank the clergy, vestry and parish family for wonderfully supporting VBS with your donations, prayers and support!
This VBS celebrates “weird.” But what does that really mean? And what does the word “weird” mean? I think sometimes it means that being different is weird and I’m not sure I like that. I believe we are here this week to celebrate how we are all created differently and it is in being different that we can serve God in our own unique way. We all are given amazing gifts and let’s use them!
This week, you may meet a little girl or a man that is told that they are worthless at home. The girl goes to school and is picked on. Maybe the man goes to work and his boss tells him he can’t do anything right. But when they both come to St. Martin’s they will hear something different. The girl will hear that she is created by a mighty, loving God. She will also hear that she is kind, loveable and fun to be with. The man will know that people care about him at St. Martin’s and that there is a place where he can do “everything right” and serve God at the same time.
Fill everyone up with the love of God. So, when this little girl goes home, or goes to school she will know better. When the man returns to work he will know that he is capable of a lot. That’s what we are here to do this week. To fill everyone up with the love of God so that they can respond to God’s love and be the heart, hands and feet of Jesus to neighbors no matter where they are on their journey of faith.
Thank you for your ministry and I ask for your continued prayers this week!
