All Saints’ Day, Sunday, November 1, was a big day at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church. Young people paraded as saints, wearing saints’ banners. They each got a turn with the microphone to share what saint they represented. Father Scot dressed as Richard Hooker, the father of Anglicanism, and gave a sermon with the children gathered around. Three people were baptized, and we welcomed them into our community of faith. Young people participated in the service in many different ways – reading, bringing gifts, serving and learning at the altar are just a few. We gathered commitment cards and blessed them, and children gathered and served at the altar. With our prayers and blessings, we sent a Lay Eucharistic Visitor out to give Holy Communion.
We gathered with thankful hearts to celebrate our commitments to our church, and enjoyed a simple meal and plenty of fellowship.
