A Special Holy Week Chapel Service
The students of St. Martin’s Episcopal School celebrated Holy Week with a special chapel service. Children shared homemade bread and talked about the importance of the last meal Jesus experienced with his friends, the disciples.
Students also learned that Jesus humbled himself and washed the disciples’ dusty, dirty feet; a role usually reserved for a servant. The students were offered an opportunity to have their feet washed in chapel. Peeling off bright and colorful socks, students jumped at the chance to feel the cool water on their feet and began taking turns washing their classmate’s feet. The children also enjoyed washing a very ticklish chaplain’s foot, too! This service featured a fun and meaningful way to teach children about serving and loving others.
