Opportunities for youth at diocesan convention
Youth in 6-12 grades are invited to be a part of this year’s diocesan convention with many opportunities to help. Convention is a time where folks from the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth gather for conversation, worship and decision making. There is some fun sprinkled in the meetings too. This year’s convention will be held at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14. Here are all the details.
How can youth help at convention?
On Friday, November 13 at 5:30 pm, teens are invited to be a part of the “Three Musketeers” theme for this year’s Planned Foolishness, a skit that involves our bishops, clergy and a few willing volunteers. Teens can help with the script, acting and assist with costumes.
On Saturday, November 14, there are some options:
- At 12:30 pm, clergy spouse guides are needed to greet clergy spouses when they arrive for a luncheon on Saturday. Duties will involve helping with name tags, assisting with the lunch line and then showing clergy spouses to the luncheon room. They will also assist Kathy Mayer (Bishop Mayer’s wife) during the luncheon.
- At 1:30 pm up to six teens are needed to direct people to three different workshops
- Starting at 4:15 pm, three or four teens are needed to help with clean up and packing up convention materials
Youth are encouraged to contact the Rev. Tracie Middleton at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering at this year’s convention.
