Maundy Thursday flowers and watch at the Altar of Repose

From the end of the Maundy Thursday service through Good Friday morning, we keep watch before the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose in the chapel. This commemorates for us the disciples being asked to watch and pray with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane the night before he was crucified.

Then Jesus came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” ~Matthew 26: 40-41

Bring flowers

We will transform our chapel into a fragrant, pleasant, meditative space reminiscent of the Garden. Please bring in cut or potted flowers of any variety, from your home or from elsewhere, to be put in the chapel at the Altar of Repose for the Maundy Thursday Vigil.  Drop off flowers to the office no later than Wednesday, March 23; the office is open weekdays from 8-4. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Seeber at 817-577-9017 or rwseeber@sbcglobal.com.

Sign up to keep watch

So that we can make certain there are at least two people keeping watch for each hour of the Vigil, please print your name on the poster in the back of the sanctuary. This way we can be certain that there is always someone before the Blessed Sacrament, and we can ensure people’s safety.
