Fill the Truck for Union Gospel Mission – Volunteers Still Needed

Help us fill Union Gospel Mission’s truck with household goods and cleaning supplies!

Many people are housed at Union Gospel Mission (UGM) making their way back to a stable life in a home of their own. When that time comes, they need everything to begin living on their own. To assist these hardworking, committed people, we are bringing a UGM truck to St. Martin’s the weekend of April 18-19 and we will be accepting household goods and cleaning supplies to help UGM clients set up their new home. Let’s fill that truck!

Items that are needed

Items can include almost anything in good repair useful to a new home: lamps, small appliances, clothing, apartment-sized furniture, kitchen accessories, dishes, silverware, towels, sheets, and more. In many cases, there are children moving to a new home with a parent, so children’s clothing, toys, books and children’s furnishings are also welcome.

UGM and their clients also need household cleaning supplies:  household cleaners like Comet cleanser, Windex glass cleaner, bleach, PineSol, orange and green cleaners, sponges, buckets and clean rags.

Items that we cannot accept

Sorry, we cannot accept older televisions or mattresses or general office supplies. If you have a mattress in good shape, please contact your local Goodwill Industries; they take mattresses and are able to sanitize them for reuse.

Dropoff times

Saturday, April 18: 1 – 5pm
Sunday,    April 19: 8am – 1pm

You can volunteer!

We need multiple adult and teen volunteers for hourly shifts to help receive items and load and pack the truck that weekend. To volunteer or ask questions, please contact Joy Malmgren at 817 428-7367 or grinwane@att.netThere is a sign-up sheet by the office door.

If you have furniture that is too large to move yourself and you live in Tarrant County, please call UGM at 817-339-2553. You can arrange a time for them to come pick it up for you.
