Episcopal 101: Inquirer’s Class – All Are Welcome! (Updated 2/12/2014)
St. Martin’s will be holding a series of Saturday classes called Episcopal 101, discussing what it means to be a Christian in the context of the Episcopal Church tradition. There will be discussions on some of the BIG QUESTIONS that both newcomers and long-timers bring to the Episcopal church. So, whether you are new to the Episcopal Church or wish to be confirmed or received, or just want to refresh your “Episcopalness,” please sign up for the class. Facilitators will be St. Martin’s clergy: Mike Wallens, Amy Haynie, and Henry Penner. Classes will start March 1.
A light meal will be provided and child care will be available. We need to know the numbers of people for dinner and who needs to have childcare and for how many children and their ages.
The weekly schedule will be as follows:
5pm – The Holy Eucharist
6pm – Dinner
6:30-7:30pm – Class
The final class on Saturday, April 26 will be a mini-retreat from 9am-1pm. We will focus on identifying your gifts for ministry and where they can be lived out.
Confirmation will be on Sunday, April 27 at the 10:30am service.
The dates and topics of each class are:
- March 1 – Faith: Personal & Common
- March 8 – Liturgy
- March 15 – The Bible
- March 22 – Questions you have thought about
- March 29 – History & Structure of the Episcopal Church
- April 5 – The Book of Common Prayer
- April 12 – NO CLASS – Palm Sunday
