The Epiphany Pageant at St. Martin’s had lots of personality this year with children and teens getting into action to bring the story of Jesus’ birth to life. Baby Jesus smiled and cooed while Mary and Joseph doted on him. Shepherds followed a real star and wise men worshiped the little lord Jesus. Soldiers and leaders of the council helped plot and protect King Herod, who reigned with an iron fist! Angel Gabriel and a sweet little angel added angelic presence to this holy event. Youth readers told the story of the events surrounding Jesus birth with lots of flair.
One special moment took place as children waited to go into the sanctuary. Gathered in a circle, children got to experience one of the gifts of the Magi, frankincense oil. Passing around a small bottle of this precious oil, children could take a tiny sniff and then were asked to share what they were thankful for at that very moment. Children’s thoughts ranged from being thankful for friends and family, Jesus, teachers and even video games. It was a sweet moment.
It was a joyous evening with many folks gathering at St. Martin’s to see all the pageantry. Many thanks to all volunteers, especially Brooke and Shawn Casey, pageant directors. If you missed the pageant, check out these great pics or flip through the slideshow below.
