Alleluia! Christ Is Risen! I want to wish a very Happy Resurrection Season to each of you as we celebrate Eastertide. Thank you to all of our ministries and ministers at St. Martin-in-the-Fields as well as to our dedicated church staff for the enormous amount of preparation and work given to the tasks of Holy Week and Easter this year. I thought you might like to see the results of this hard work; I tallied the attendance numbers for 2014 and 2015, and here are the following results:

Although our faith is not about “numbers” but about each person’s relationship to Christ and the community of St. Martin’s, it is important to understand that we stand at the threshold of uncharted territory as we continue to grow and expand our ministries and church staff. Our Average Sunday Attendance (ASA) in 2014 was 178, and in 2015, thus far, our ASA is 220. This is exciting but also presents challenges of space issues and expansion of ministries and expenses associated with these booming ministries.
It was such a blessing for me to baptize two babies at Easter as well as two twin boys, who are almost teens. We continue to have requests for baptisms and our calendar is filling up. Our Adult Confirmation/Inquirer’s class is close to 20 people as we discuss Scripture, history, theology, sacraments, and the ethics of the Episcopal Church. Please mark your calendar for Sunday, April 26 at 10:30 am when our Bishop, the Right Reverend Rayford High, will visit St. Martin’s to confirm adults and teens and meet with you and the Vestry.
I look forward to continuing the walk with Christ that we share in ministry together at St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
