Children and Youth Ministry Soap Drive Success!

Each month, children and youth ministry will host a focused giving campaign for Union Gospel Mission. Working together, we hope to help end homelessness. The purpose of each drive is to respond to the Gospel:

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in…” Matthew 25:35

The response “bubbled” over as donations of bar soap poured in at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church! Nine large grocery bags, filled with bar soap of all kinds were presented to Union Gospel Mission.  Lezlee Kinney, volunteer coordinator at UGM, said,”The soap is a blessing. So great you are to all of us!” Each monthly campaign is a reminder of the needs of the poor, which Christ commends to our care:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.” Luke 4:18

When we give and are mindful of others, we are transformed along with those who receive our gift. Thank you so much for being Christ in the world!

Check out a few pics of this project! Don’t forget this month’s giving campaign to help the homeless. We will collect toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss through February 22.
