All Saints’ Sunday was a fantastic time at St. Martin’s!

Youth Musicians

After nearly two months of early morning practices each Sunday, the teen musicians were ready for their first performance at the 10:30am service. Leading the children’s parade, their joyful music wafted in the air, much like the incense that filled the sanctuary. Look for future performances from this toe-tapping group of young people! Christi Hardy, organist and choirmaster, was instrumental (pun intended) in getting this group started with sheet music, individual instruction for each instrument and making time to practice with the teens.

Children’s Parade

Children arrived dressed as nurses, NASA astronauts, teachers and more to represent modern day saints.  In addition, the children wore banners depicting saints of the church and grabbed instruments to join in the music. The parade is our annual reminder that we can all live like saints by responding to God’s call to be kind, live in community and give to others.

A Saintly Service

The fun didn’t stop! A sermon by Father Mike got everyone on their feet, singing, dancing and praying. Children were called up to the front of church to be a part of baptisms and were heard congratulating their newly baptized friends and saying, “Hallelujah!” After Communion, everyone was encouraged to give coats for our November coat drive to benefit Union Gospel Mission. The congregation was also encouraged to grab a shopping list to provide items for Service Sunday, a time where sack lunches are made and delivered to the homeless served by Union Gospel Mission.

Trunk or Treat

Coffee hour went outdoors after the service.  Cars parked in a special “Trunk or Treat” section.  Cars were decorated in spooky, kooky fashion and the candy flowed to little trick or treaters.  An award went to Xander and Patrick Smith’s family vehicle for “Best Dressed.”  Honorable mention should go to the Timmons family for their “Luck of the Irish” vehicle. Many thanks goes to those who helped with coffee hour and parking.
