Sunday School
6th - 12th grade
At St. Martin-in-the-Fields, we know teens and preteens crave a place to feel welcome; a place to ask questions about their faith in a relaxed social environment. Sunday School for youth breaks into two groups: 6th – 8th grades and 9th – 12th grades and meets during the 10:30 a.m. service in the Christian Education building. Youth will come into the church for communion and then will return to Sunday School to finish up with prayer and thanksgiving. They will ultimately meet up with their families at coffee hour.
Rite 13
6th – 8th grade
This powerful program focuses on celebrating the individuality of each young teen and their creative potential, while exploring Biblical stories of God and God’s people. The thought-provoking curriculum evolves over two years into a Rite of Passage ceremony in the church – similar to Bar or Bat Mitzvahs, the Jewish coming of age rituals -- to celebrate turning 13. Journey to Adulthood (J2A)
9th – 12th grade
Here our teens will explore in depth the 6 skills of adulthood: active listening, assertion, partnership, negotiation, research and information management, and leadership, and discuss with candor the issues they face as Christians in a secular world. These young adults will take increasing responsibility for their time together and their “work” will eventually culminate in a pilgrimage that is often a life-changing experience for the group.
