7/20 Children’s Chapel

All children, teens and anyone interested are invited to children’s chapel, held each Sunday during the 10:30am service in the chapel except for the first Sunday of the month when we celebrate with the family worship service.  The family worship service has a youth focus with a children’s sermon and opportunities for youth to serve as readers, ushers and more!  For children’s chapel, children are asked to process with the cross to the chapel for a reading of the Gospel, prayers, creeds and fun activities.  The children will return at the Peace to their families.

This Sunday, we will focus on stereotypes.  When you meet someone for the first time, you already make your mind up.  I like you.  I don’t like you. We are all quick to do this.  The Bible is clear that we are not here to “weed” God’s garden of people that we think aren’t worthy or ignore and treat them harshly.

Jesus  said, “No; for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them.” Matthew 13:29

I will ask the children to “walk in the shoes” of the homeless people of Union Gospel Mission.  I will explain that everyone deserves to be treated like a flower, not a weed.  I will also invite the children to stay after church with their families from noon-2pm in the west parish hall and help make sack lunches for the homeless people Union Gospel Mission serves.
